A rehabilitation centre for addicts in Cape Breton is closing its doors.

CTV reported Tuesday that the provincial Department of Community Services is making alternate arrangements for residents of Talbot House in Frenchvale.

The report said the department confirmed it had received word from the home’s board of directors that all residents would be discharged.

It’s not known when the non-profit facility, which opened in 1959, will shut down.

The report did not give a reason for the closure.

The home has 18 beds and most of its funding comes from the provincial government.

Last month, police and the provincial government said they were looking into a complaint against Rev. Paul Abbass, who runs the facility.

Officials with Talbot House would not offer any details on the nature of the complaint at the time, but said Abbass had taken a leave of absence as executive director.
