Could this scenario play out in Winnipeg?

Previously convicted Oblate priest Father Omer Desjardins has a court date this afternoon in Winnipeg:

27 February 2017: 1 pm,  court room # 302, Winnipeg Provincial courthouse (Main Floor, 408 York Ave.)

It’s hard to know what will or might happen today.  As some of you may recall, the last Desjardins charges, which related to the sex abuse of a 10-year-old girl in Marsden Saskatchewan in 1978, moved extremely quickly through the system. Those charges were laid October 2014 – by 22 January 2015 Desjardins had entered a guilty plea, sat through his sentencing hearing, and was sentenced to six months in jail and one year probation.

Could this scenario possibly play out again in Manitoba?  I suppose it’s possible, but, for several reasons, doubtful.

If anyone is free to attend to find out what happens today I encourage you to do so.  It will probably be dealt with in the twinkle of an eye and new court date set, but, – we just never know.

    I don’t think it will be remanded today (the last date on jan 16th was remanded due to new charges being added for a 2nd victim) I don’t know of any more coming forward, so I am hoping a date will be set today. I will let you know what happens as I will be there for every court date.

    next date March 27, 2017 1pm rm 301 “to be spoken to”

    new date april 24 room 302 so as long as nothing new comes up we might get somewher then
