The Sin of Scandal

There were two courtdates yesterday and one today.

As always I ask you to remember the complainants and their families in your prayers  Every court date, no matter how seemingly insignificant to some, is always of great interest and concern to every complainant, and usually also to his/her family.

Here are the courtdates:

(1) Father Yvon Arsenault

Father Arsenault had a courtdate in Moncton New Brunswick yesterday (27 January 2014).   I have been trying without success to reach someone at the courthouse.  I shall continue.  As soon as I do and am able to find out the next courtdate I will pass on the word.  Meanwhile, if anyone has any word of the outcome please let me know.

As always, please keep the complainant and their families in your prayers.

(2) Father John E Sullivan

Father Sullivan had yet another courtdate in North Bay yesterday (27 January 2014).  The courthouse is having troubles accessing its data base so I have as yet been unable to get the next courtdate.  As soon as I find out I will pass it on.

Again, please keep the complainant and his family in your prayers.

(3)  Father Daniel Miller had a court date at the Pembroke courthouse this morning (28 January 2014) at 11 am “to be spoken to.”

I won’t be able to find out until tomorrow afternoon when the next court date is, but am curious as to the 11 am start time?  That’s a little unusual.

And, yes, please keep the complainant and his family in your prayers.

In addition to the computer issues I have been tearing hair over the Father Joe LeClair fiasco.

I left the Ottawa courthouse last week pondering what exactly people  think a priest should be, not to mention why his band of very loyal and vocal supporters are so insistent that he not be sent to jail and be returned to ministry.

I will be posting shortly, meanwhile I suggest you read through the following quotes to see what St. Liguori -and through him what other great saints of the Church – have had to say about the sin of scandal:   Quotes from Saint Alphonsus Liguori on the priesthood and the sin of scandal

I resolved a few issues with the  computer, but by no means all.  I swear that these technological glitches will be the death of me :)

Enough for now,

Sylvia

    Sylvia,
I read years ago from Catholic literature about this saint. (I don’t recall his name)

This future Saint of the Church sent word for this young man to see him in his office. This young man was a seminarian or a newly ordained priest on retreat. Anyway, this man went to the office of his superior but at the entrance at the door he just stopped.

His superior told him to enter but the young man hesitate to walk in because between the door and the desk there on the floor was a large Crucifix. His Superior told him to come ahead in and walk on Jesus because that’s what the young man was doing lately.

I never knew what the young seminarian or newly ordained priest did.

Whatever it was, that Saint must have taught him a good lesson about the sin of scandal.

I was getting off work this morning and picked up a local paper and to my great joy was the best article of the year maybe the century. I will post the link so everyone can read it. All I have to say is about time the united nations steps in.
