The people of the town of Cap-Pele, New Brunswick are finding their voice!
A town councillor is leading the lobby to have the name of local arena, Aréna Père-Camille-Léger, changed.
According to Coun. Norbert Gaudet, during his years in Cap-Pele (1957-1980) Father Camille Leger sexually abused numerous children in the small fishing community which lies on the shores of the Northumberland Strait. Gaudet has no idea how many were abused by the priest: “I don’t have enough fingers on my hand and enough toes on my feet. It’s too much.”
A plebiscite will be conducted 14 May 2012 in conjunction with the municipal election to decide the matter.
Father Camille Leger’s name has been added to to the Accused list. I will look online for further info to fill int he gaps. If anyone has further info please post as a comment or send to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Congratulations to Norbert Gaudet for speaking up! And congratulations to all those with allegations against Leger who have found their voice and are speaking up. Let’s hope and pray the entire community rallies behind these men to have the name of Father Camille Leger removed from the arena.
Enough for now,
