Charges against yet another priest from the Diocese of London, Ontario. I have just added a page for Father Linus Bastien.
Note that Bastien served at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Windsor Ontario in the mid 90s (’92-’95) with none other than Father Gabriel Del Bianco (Del Bianco, now out of the priesthood and into counselling, is currently facing sex abuse charges. There were allegations of “improper conduct” against Del Bianco in 1994 while he was serving at Sacred Heart, and, he presumably left the priesthood in 1996 after being reported)
Also, note that from about 1991 on Father Bastien served as an assistant priest. He had been serving as a pastor from the late 60s to around 1991.
Anyway, my sincere congratulations to the complainants who found the courage to go to police. Good for you!
I encourage anyone with allegations against Bastien to contact the police in your area. Wherever you are your local police force will put you in touch with the investigating officer (s) in the Windsor area. I see that there is also a contact phone number on the CBC News report: “Police ask that any person with further information regarding this investigation should immediately contact the Essex County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.”

Has anyone heard anything on Father Jose Silva’s court date of yesterday? I see nothing in the papers today. The latest news on Silva is the article telling us that he has resigned and wants to go home
