Cornwall Public Inquiry

Publication Ban Sought For Obstructing Justice Charge

Cornwall News AM 1220

February 19, 2007 — A lawyer for a man charged with obstructing justice at the Cornwall Public Inquiry is seeking a publication ban. Steve Parisien has been accused of inappropriately communicating with a witness. Kingston police charged Parisien for allegedly telling Albert Roy he could "plead the fifth" when it came to testimony surrounding Perry Dunlop, the former police officer who first brought the allegations of abuse to light. Today was the first date the matter was dealt with in court. Parisien's lawyer, Heather Perkins-Mcvay says they are seeking a publication ban but would not elaborate on the reasons. She says they are self explanatory. Meanwhile, the crown attorney plans to write a letter to Perkins-Mcvay so a formal request can be made. The matter goes back to court March 26th.
