Cornwall Public Inquiry

Are Victims Talking Outside The Hearings Room At The Inquiry?

Cornwall News AM 1220

December 12, 2006 — A potential bombshell at the Cornwall Public Inquiry. According to the transcript Vicki Roy said a member of the Victim's Group called her husband Albert about his testimony. Today, Albert is on the stand and is being questioned about the conversation. It is alleged Steve Parisien asked him about the evidence he was giving at the inquiry. Roy says "...the conversation went to the effect of Perry Dunlop. You know, that I didn't have to tell the truth, that I could have memory lapses when it came to Perry Dunlop. Also he told me I could plead the fifth, that there's a certain law in Canada, something like that where I could not answer a question...” Perry Dunlop is the former city cop credited with uncovering allegations of sex abuse in the area.

Parisien tells AM 1220 News there has been some miscommunication between him and Albert. "...as in regards to whether I actually made these comments or whatever, no I did not. but I truly believe that things have been clearly misunderstood. There's been a clear misunderstanding and I am actually really shocked in regards to some of the comments that have been made." Commissioner Normand Glaude says "...what we've heard so far with respect to this tale, are allegations or a statement from Mr. Roy. I will leave it to the proper authorities to do what they might..." Albert is expected to finish his testimony today.
