Cornwall Public Inquiry

Peter Sirrs

Peter Sirrs was area manager of Cornwall probation services from 1981 to 1984.  It was during his tenure that sex abuse allegations against former probation officer Nelson Barque first arose.

Sirrs authored the now infamous Sirr’s Report which detailed the findings of an internal investigation into the allegations.  For years people have been trying without success to obtain a copy of the report.  The Office of the Ontario Solicitor General, now Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, refused to release it.

Much of Sirr's testimony relates to allegations that Nelson Barque was 'sexually involved' with a probationer, Robert Sheets.  This is  Robert Sheets Project Truth Statement
