Cornwall Public Inquiry

Witness Questioned About Settlement At Inquiry

Cornwall News AM 1220

January 30, 2007 — "I thought the church would look at the issue a little closer if it cost them $32,000." That from an alleged victim at the Cornwall Public Inquiry. David Silmser is the city man who was offered a $32,000 settlement by the diocese after he made allegations against Father Charles Macdonald in the early 90's. Silmser signed the deal because he was told the police were finished their investigation. Charges against Father Charles Macdonald were stayed in 2002 when a judge determined the matter had taken too long to get to trial.
