Cornwall Public Inquiry

Church Payment To Be Looked At?

January 29, 2007 — It may be the centre of testimony at the Cornwall Public Inquiry this week; an agreement between an alleged victim and the church. When hearings resume later today, we will hear from a man who signed a $32,000 settlement with the church in 1993. Six months later, the deal became public. David Silmser was the first man to say he suffered abuse at the hands of Father Charles MacDonald. Charges against the city priest were stayed in 2002 when a judge determined that the matter had taken too long to get to trial.
