Cornwall Public Inquiry

The Victims

Andre Lavoie

30 October 2006 Cornwall Public Inquiry commission Counsel Simon Ruel's email response to Sylvia's email of 28 October 2006 (exchange re publication ban on Andre Lavoie Victim Impact Statement)

Mrs. MacEachern,

Documents are provided to the Commission by the Parties and others and are placed on an electronic database. It may happen that one electronic document contain more than one sub-documents. That was the case with respect to Mr. Lavoie's Victim Impact Statement.

The intention of the Commission is to resolve confidentiality issues attaching to documents as they arise. Until a process was developed, as a matter of prudence, a number of documents containing the names of victims who whished to remain anonymous or victims that were not reached by the Commission were marked as confidential.

The Commissioner will issue directions tomorrow dealing with this issue. There will subsequently be a hearing to deal with the specific claims of confidentiality up to date. As indicated, further claims would be dealt with as they come up.

I will keep you apprised of the developments.

I will be glad to speak with you if you require any further information.

Yours truly,

Simon Ruel
