Not Aware of Allegations Until After Seguin's Death: Robert

Cornwall News AM 1220

February 08, 2008 — The boss of a former probation officer accused of sexual abuse says he could have taken action if he knew about the allegations. Former Area Manager Emile Robert overlooked the Cornwall Probation and Parole Office for 13 years beginning in 1985. He says the Cornwall Police and some of his staff were aware of abuse allegations against Former Probation Officer Ken Seguin but he did not know about them until after Seguin committed suicide in 1993. Seguin was never charged. Robert says the staff told him they did not tell him about the allegations because he was management. Robert says he does not remember why the police did not tell him. Through a translator, Robert testified he would have liked to know this information while Seguin was alive. (Hear audio clip below). Robert is scheduled to re-take the stand on Monday.
