Dunlop supporters rally outside inquiry

Cries of "Free Perry Dunlop!" and "Defrock LaRocque!" rang through the air outside the Weave Shed this morning.   

About 60 people protested in support of Perry Dunlop, the former Cornwall cop who was jailed six months ago for refusing to testify at the Cornwall Public Inquiry.   

The long-running sexual abuse inquiry is probing how institutions handled allegations of historical abuse. Today is former bishop Eugene LaRocque's eighth day on the stand.   D

unlop is considered a central figure at the inquiry. In 1993, he turned over a $32,000 settlement between an abuse victim and the Alexandria-Cornwall Roman Catholic Diocese - which LaRocque was helming at the time - to the Children's Aid Society.   

Dunlop has refused to take the stand, however, and in early 2008 he was jailed for contempt. While his current sentence is almost up, Dunlop will be returning to a Toronto court in September to be sentenced on another contempt charge.

Dunlop may be sentenced again?!?! Do the authorities not realize how much they are incriminating themselves? The people accused are still roaming free and the one who brought the case to light is being held in prison and is obviously not testifying because he's afraid to. What a farce!

I am doing a jurisdictional challenge and a Proof of Claims. I am not a lawyer and am learning as I go along. I have served g.Normand glaude, Chris Bentley,0f the Attorney general office, Brian Gover, lawyer, Peter Englemen, prosecutor and others. I can fax copies of what I sent to anyone who is interested. They refuse to answer and if they do they state that it is not filed in a court of law so now I am starting a notarial protest. I do not intend to go to court. I hope to serve them all with notices of default. this whole case is a farce. google The magnificent deception and Silent weapons for quiet wars. thank you

I have left the Catholic church a long time ago and for very good reasons and this one was at the top of my reasons. I learned so much about the Catholic church and yes Mr. Dunlop has a very good reason to be afraid. The Catholic church runs the world and is the main part of the "illuminati" and all the ails in the world are pointed their way - the Jesuits. The Catholic church has everyone in their pockets - who do you think rules the world. I learned so much and want nothing to do with any of this crap. They are mighty dangerous indeed. The Bible calls the Catholic church "the great whore".

As I have stated before, thou I feel for Perry Dunlop, I still believe as a retired policeman with 31 years on the job that you still have to follow due process. Perry knows how to answer any lawyers questions, He started the ball rolling he should continue what he started and yes the case certainly appears to have turned into a big joke nothing will come out of this. That is why Perry should finish what he started.

I am tired of him being made a martyr for this whole thing. I am tired of hearing of how he and his wife are playing the parts of crusaders in this whole farce. He should indeed take the stand and finish it once and for all. This turned into the Dunlop show many years ago and his children and the families of those scarred by this inquiry deserve that it be put to rest.

I think you are a little off topic and misinformed. The Catholic Church was an all-powerful force but over the years has dwindled to nothing more then a hope. Take for example how they are changing their moral out look hoping to bring people back to the church.  I think you should look to the only people in the world that can claim anti Semitism when someone does not see issues in their way. There is lies "has everyone in their pockets" as you put it. As you will see someone will reply by calling me anti Semitic because of my post, but they will not be stating that because of my comments on the Catholic faith

He said he would testify but he would have to read from his notes and that wasnt good enough.Maybe the Bishop should of read from his notes instead of telling nothing but lies.Come on free Perry Dunlop i can find find other people they could send to jail for saying nothing but lies.

Here another door opens showing issues at higher levels of government yet all people do is worry about Perry. I think we have bigger issues then any one man. If Perry is truly concerned it is about time he comes forth to tell his side of things.  As the situation stands now this can be perceived as Perry is hiding other issues or perhaps seeking personal gain. It would be a typical scenario something we can see next year in a made for TV movie on CBC. Perry you did an incredible job bringing all this to light. Now open the whole thing up and show us all what this is all about.

Delete the police 2 officers.1 FORENSIC photogragher.3 from the media and a few snoopers..40 at best..Then delete the Dunlops.the victoms,Sylvia and gang.
And behold maybe about 6 supporters in all from a well advertized event.

re: getreal Now you're asking that everything be put to rest! It was put to rest for decades by the pedophiles. What's happening to Perry is part of the dance. God never promised us a rosed garden. Perry is accepting with grace the flow of life. Now people are more educated on the subject of sexual abuse and more and more young man and woman dare exposing the truth. I think you're directing your energy to the wrong people. Who is preventing protecting our children. It's only by talking and exposing the sick behavior of people that we as people can protect our children. If you're tired of what's going on, just change the channel.

With all due respect Carmen..Thats what I am doing is listening...listening..and listening..There is no doubt the area is full of alleged pedophiles...and people covering up...Everyday that goes by we learn more and more on how the puzzle was put together..I for one dont use one brush to smear everyone with one swoosh..I have followed this story since day one,read every transcript and have seen every web-cast and also folled back when the original web sight project truth..

High you need to update your train of thought.

First of all Democracy is the purest form of socialism/fascism that could ever exist. We have it, we fight for it and we criticize it everyday. We scream for more of what we already have. Socialism is the ideology of keeping the masses fed, fighting and ignorant. Sound like any place you know of?    You quote issues so out of date and so sixties mentality. All those you now condemn and critique had the same mentality you when they were high and trying to save the world. You remember peace love and justice for all. Well they are now the ones at the top.

The world is run by Austin Powers clones following years of substance abuse.  What I say of Perry is he did a dam good job, but now push comes to shove and he hides. We have a corrupt system? Well Mr. Dunlop now is your turn to prove it. You care about pedophiles being brought to justice it is time to come out in the open mount that soapbox and scream. You have public support so much so people could not even imagine. So far it seems to set a trend like your investigation you hide behind conspiracy theory lurking in the shadows having others scream foul on your behalf. You are destroying your own credibility by working in the shadows again.

Wouldn’t it be just LOVELY if the readers could “link” to all the posts you, me and others have written, so everyone could develop their own informed opinions of you, me and others, who have regularly or periodically posted on this site for many, many months now? Wouldn’t it be nice to allow the readers to review the many previous communications you, me and others have had with each other, instead of just forming an opinion on “this one article and related postings”? Informed opinions!! I guess that’s just not the way it goes, is it. So, you, me and others return periodically, with the same or new and improved “spins”, designed to influence public opinion wherever possible; especially with “newcomers” or openly biased subscribers. Are you still following me “Itinerant”? I know you expressed some difficulty in interpreting some, “so called” big words I used. “2 Sides”, you continue to promote the “no decision, wait ‘till all the facts get in, before deciding”, ideology, while stating you have been around since the very beginning (1993 or before). You have implied you have read every note, every transcript, every “bit” of related information, etc., etc. Boy, who can rebut that? What is your intention in qualifying yourself in this site, in that context? Perhaps other people have similar knowledge, but have different approaches or interpretations than you?

“Itinerant”, although I see you as basically espousing the same ideological approach as “2 sides”, you also mention in recent posts that you always “suspected” something, but……I say WOW to both of you. Thank God you were not responsible for my children, the administration of justice or the Cornwall and Area community social policy….or maybe therein, lies the answer. I suggest both of you are waiting for Commissioner Glaude to publish his opinions, before you “blindly follow”, in expressing your next decision, while, in the meantime, continuing to rely on your idea of “presumption of innocence” and “rule of law”, to justify your “misrepresentations” of fact. I believe and have experienced that the “justification” I just referenced can be corrupted? Again, therein lays the problem; that hasn’t been proven yet has it, so you have no opinion? In fact, in this voluntary public inquiry, nothing will be proven, right?

In an attempt to qualify and disclose further like “2 Sides”; as many readers and prominent citizens know who I am, they also know, I worked and lived in the Cornwall Area from 1988 to 2000. Many readers know I have read transcripts, notes, etc., etc.and interviewed many people. Many people also know I worked in the community as a counselor, interacting with many adolescents and their families, living in Cornwall and Eastern Ontario. Many people know some of the consequences of my attempts to report and disclose some of the facts, from 1995 to the date of this writing. “Itinerant” and “2 Sides”; in an attempt to inform readers, what did you two do, in Cornwall and Area…..be honest now.

Your question...in an attempt to inform readers, what did you two do?

First I can't speak for “Itinerant” I don't know him.

Myself I was a Senior Manager for a local industry for 30- years and retired 2 years ago,Plus the H/R MANAGER..Managed 80-120 employees.

In the past 30 years as h/r manager I guess I have been a counselor of sorts also..perhaps differant problems..A good counselor listens to both sides of the story..

And since you volunteered your assessment on "counsellor traits", a good manager must make decisions on a daily basis or minute to minute or second to second, utilizing a variety of factors "available" and based on training, education, experience, needs, insight, "standard operations manual", etc., etc.

Were you private sector or public sector? or....Domtar?

Additionally, "2 Sides"; with your extensive experience in management and speaking hypothetically here; "let's say you are managing 80-120 people at a time and perhaps there is an issue affecting all people. Do you see the possibility that there may be 20-180 "sides to a story"? If not, how have you managed to keep the issue to only "2 Sides"?  How?

And then, there may be the truth.
