Robert Renshaw

Inquiry Cross-Examination Closely Monitored

Cornwall News AM 1220

March 01, 2007 — "...and what's the purpose of doing this?" That from Commissioner Normand Glaude at the Cornwall Public Inquiry during the cross-examination of an alleged victim. Robert Renshaw says he was abused by a probation officer and city priest when he was a young man. Today, Renshaw was asked a number of questions relating to the alleged incidents. A couple of lawyers stepped up when they felt the examination was not going in the right direction. At one point, Commission Counsel, Pierre Dumais addressed the gallery because he did not feel the line of questioning was appropriate. Charges against Father Charles MacDonald were stayed in 2002 when a judge determined the matter had taken too long to get to trial.
