[theinquiry.ca note:  There are two errors in this CP article which might cause confusion. (1) I don't believe the RCMP have been trying to force Perry to testify.  They have been trying to cajole him into turning himself in so they don't have to arrest him.  (2) Perry is not sceduled to testify at the inquiry on Wednesday.  He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Divisional Court in Toronto Ontario on Wednesday to be sentenced on one conviction of contempt of court and also to determine if a second contempt charge will be criminal or civil - th judges will then rule if he is guilty of that charge and, if yes, will issue the sentence.]

By: THE CANADIAN PRESS VICTORIA - RCMP officers from British Columbia are trying to persuade a former Ontario police officer to testify Wednesday at a public inquiry involving allegations of a pedophile ring in eastern Ontario. Perry Dunlop is facing contempt of court charges for refusing to testify at the Ontario inquiry and is scheduled to be in court in Toronto this week. Dunlop, whose allegations of the pedophile ring in the Cornwall area helped launch the inquiry, is refusing to testify because he says he no longer trusts the justice system after years of trying to convince people about the existence of the pedophile ring that included several community and church leaders. Dunlop's wife, Helen, says RCMP officers from their home town in Duncan on Vancouver Island have visited, saying they have a warrant for her husband's arrest, but they want him to voluntarily take a flight to Ontario. A rally at the Dunlop home is expected Sunday afternoon as residents gather to oppose the former police officer's trip to Ontario, she says. "The RCMP want him to turn himself in," said Helen Dunlop. "They are offering him a plane ticket. They are coming to get him." She said the Mounties said they didn't want to create a scene if arrest her husband. "They don't want a hoopla," Dunlop said. She said she expects more than 100 people to wait outside the family home Sunday. Perry Dunlop has said he will not oppose his arrest, but has concerns that a police officer trying to help children ends up in jail.
