Cornwall Public Inquiry

From the Inside

Perry Dunlop was discharged from the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre 04 October 2008.  His possessions were in three huge heavy bags.  Each bag was packed with brown paper bags and manila envelopes stuffed with Perry’s legal papers and the mountain of cards and letters he has received since he was officially incarcerated 05 March 2008.

At my request on Monday 06 March 2008 Perry dragged the bags in to his Nan's house to let me have a look.  I grabbed my camera and took a few pictures as he opened and rummaged through one bag.

Perry sifts through papers and letters.  Note the large plastic bag to his left.  That is one of the sacks which was filled with brown bags and manila envelopes stuffed with mail and legal papers.

Some of the the many cards and letters which gave Perry solace throughout his 231 ordeal.  He read and re-read every single one time and time again.

Perry pulls out the calendar which he used to diligently count the days.  Note the green sun for 04 October 2008 - Freedom Day!

Perry is denied and extra visit on Sunday 10 August 2008 because "Sundays are too busy."

Perry pulls out and talks about his Factum.

Papers Perry filed papers for his Inmate Appeal, and prepared a Factum.  The Factum was for his sentencing hearing at Toronto Divisional Court 03 September 2008.  All Perry's correspondance had to be done by hand with a small stub of a pencil.  I will post a picture of one of those pencil stubs later.

Letters from two of his girls.  The pink envelope is addressed to Perry Dunlop "World's best Dad!"  The blue to Mr Perry Dunlop "father extreme"

One of Perry's temporary filing cabinets :)

Some of the many envelopes Perry received which had the return address torn off .  (All mail is screened at the detention centre.  Many letters got to Perry with the return address in tact - the stamps however were routinely removed.  Many letters however had both the stamp AND the return address removed.  There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to which addresses were removed and which were not. This picture shows a few of the many envelopes which had the address removed.    In some instances the stamp and return address seem to have been methodically cut out.  In others they have been torn off. )
