Re: `Doing the right thing' cost officer his career, Sept. 19.

I support former Cornwall police officer Perry Dunlop.

One's actions in the public service can often place a worker in very uncomfortable position.

I worked for years as a child and youth worker, in many different cities. Once I quit a job and reported the abuse at an open-custody and Children's Aid Society group home. I reported this abuse to the CAS. I was confronted by angry co-workers. One male co-worker kicked my car causing $1,500 damage.

I hope one day Mr. Dunlop lives in happiness and looks at himself in the mirror accepting he did the right thing. The Cornwall Police did not deserve such a upstanding person on their force. Thank God for the victims Mr. Dunlop was there for them to do the right thing and report the abuse.
