Cornwall Public Inquiry

Dunlop Facing Allegations Of Misconduct?

Cornwall News AM 1220

May 07, 2008 — The Cornwall Public Inquiry has put Perry Dunlop on notice that it is considering finding fault with his investigation into sexual abuse claims. Dunlop, who claims an organized pedophile ring operated in the area, is currently in jail for refusing to testify at the inquiry. Lead Commission Counsel Peter Engelmann tells AM 1220 News he can't confirm whether Dunlop has been served a notice. (Hear audio clip below) But documents obtained by The Canadian Press show the commission is looking at eight areas in which it is considering finding fault with Dunlop's work. Among the commission's allegations are that Dunlop violated police procedures and provided false or misleading information about communications he had with complainants and witnesses.

[Transcript of Audio clip:     I’m reluctant to, in fact ah I can not comment on whether

a specific individual has received one or not, uhm – you know unless that particular individual wanted ah commission counsel and expressly asked commission counsel to comment on it,  ah, I don’t think it proper – it would be proper that we do that]
