2. The Real Costs
I lived in Cornwall for half of my life, before moving to Toronto. This story has taken on a life of its own. It will only end up costing the taxpayers money in the long run.I believe it will end up in the millions of dollars. They already had to pay for Perry Dunlop and his wife to fly from British Columbia to Cornwall, for Perry to get on the stand and refuse to answer any questions, in contempt of what the head of the inquiry had told him to do. It ruined many peoples life, some commited suicide, some tried and failed and now live disabled. Perry took it apon himself to go behind his superiors back and do an investigation on his own. He even went as far to contact Julien Fantino to ask him what he should do. This is at the same time Julien Fantino was dealing with Project Guardian in London where he said he had a ring of his own. All because, Yes, one Boy was abused by a priest. Perry knew him and he decided that the truth wasn't out. So began this long saga, that has taken 20 some odd years and they still may never know the whole truth. Many of the accusers have now recanted and said they felt that they had to make up stories to apease Perry and his brother-in -law. Its taken 2 years to get this far and still won't be finished until the new year. It has given Cornwall a black eye because people think that what they heard is the Truth when it's not. The ones I feel sorry for are the legitimate children that were abused but didn't and won't come forward because of this circus. I also feel sorry for the taxpayers having to foot the bill for the inquiry, but also having to pay the lawyers, believe me there are a lot of lawyers in this inquiry they are the only ones coming out of this ahead. The city isn't , the true victims aren''t and the wrongfully accused are definately not. My hope is that one day Cornwall will be out from under this shadow and become the home town it once was without this worldwide attention. Hopefully it will become the hometown I remember.

3. Why I know so much
People reading my first posting probably are wondering why I can say what I said. Its because I know Perry Dunlop. I also know the original boy (man) that was abused. I even knew one of the wrongfully accused who ended up commiting suicide as he was a member of my extended family. All that this inquiry is doing to see if there was a cover-up between 6 different agencies. Its not going to find anyone guilty or innocent. So that is why I wrote what I did . Having come from Cornwall I have seen the devastating results that have been brought to the city . My one big hope is that once this is all over the city can begin to heal.

4. Who loses.
The ones that lose the most are the Gay and Lesbian people who still live in Cornwall. They have been stigmatized for the last twenty odd years. Everyone was correlating the paedophiles with gay men. saying it was all there fault. We now know that not all gay men are paedophiles, but unfortunately some of the citizens of Cornwall still lump them together. It is getting better though, for the last 2 years Cornwall has celebrated Pride. They couldn't have done that before but now they can. They still won't march in the streets but hopefully one day they will. This year the headling act was Carole Pope. I was even shocked when I heard she was performing in Cornwall. So hopefully this is a major step to heal the city from the black cloud it has been under for 20 years, and that the citizens will realize that gay men don't always abuse children. That some of the abusers just might be straight. Also hopefully the citizens won't rush to judgment of people only on rumours and innuendo.
