Inquiry Hears Conference Dealing With Abuse Complaints Is Coming To Cornwall

Local News – AM 1220

December 17, 2008 — It was short and sweet testimony from the final O.P.P. witness at the Cornwall Public Inquiry yesterday. Deputy Commissioner Chris Lewis was on the stand for a few hours and he highlighted how officers today deal with child sex abuse allegations. He says better training and real time communication is creating positive change. Lewis says Cornwall will host a conference next year on dealing with male sex abuse complaints. He says the conference is a success in other cities. (Hear audio below) The Ministry of the Attorney General is expected to be in the spotlight later today.

[Transcript of audio clip:   “And this is the first conference of this type that really focused on male sexual victimization. Now, they had presentations from adult males that had been victimized themselves and discussed all the concepts around that…”]
