Cornwall Public Inquiry

An Interesting Analogy At The Inquiry

Cornwall News AM 1220

December 14, 2006 — John MacDonald says he's sitting in the middle of an institutional response to the various institutions he became involved in over the last ten years. He says all he was looking for was compassion and help but an institution never found it for him. He says he had to find it on his own and luckily some of the people he met were angels. John MacDonald says he was abused by Father Charles MacDonald during the 1970’s. The priest was charged with various sex related charges but they were stayed in 2002 when the judge determined the trial had been unreasonably delayed.

Plenty Of Paperwork At Inquiry

Cornwall New AM 1220

December 14, 2006 — A paper trail seems to be the line of questioning at the Cornwall Public Inquiry today. Throughout John MacDonald’s evidence a number of documents have been entered as exhibits. There are letters to and from former MPP John Cleary, the Cornwall Police Service and the alleged victim. John MacDonald’s testimony also refers to a number of transcripts of court proceedings. The files surround John MacDonald’s allegation that Father Charles MacDonald abused him during the 1970’s. John has not yet had the opportunity to dig deep into the effects of the abuse or what his recommendations are for the inquiry.
