Cornwall Public Inquiry

Possibly Another Judicial Review At Inquiry

Cornwall AM 1220
December 13, 2006 — The first alleged victim of Father Charles MacDonald is on the stand at the Cornwall Public Inquiry and with him comes serious objections from the priest’s lawyer. John MacDonald says he was abused by the city priest while growing up in Cornwall during the early 1970’s. However, Father MacDonald’s lawyer has already risen to make a serious objection. Commission counsel wanted to enter the first official statement by John MacDonald to the OPP into evidence. Father MacDonald’s lawyer made an objection and it was denied. Then Guiseppe Cipriano asked for a ban on publication but Commissioner Normand Glaude did not grant it.

Cipriano applied for a temporary ban until a decision is made whether or not a judicial review will be filed. Glaude granted the stay until tomorrow morning at 9:30.
