Key sex-abuse probe witness to be a no-show

With a running tab of $23 million and a key witness having recanted sensational allegations of a ritualistic pedophile ring, the inquiry probing accusations of systemic sexual abuse in eastern Ontario resumes Monday — likely without the court-ordered testimony of the man who started it all.

Perry Dunlop, the former Cornwall, Ont., police officer who brought the allegations to light in the 1990s through his own off-hours investigation, has flatly refused to appear.

1.      Dunlop has a point but I’m not sure he’s going about proving it in the right way.

2.      Help me out please, Mac.
This is the first time ive heard of this story.
I read what was posted, but i dont understand Dunlops reluctance to appear.
One would think he would be happy to clear the air.

3.      Perry Dunlop was a Cornwall Police constable who found evidence of a ritualistic pedophile ring. His efforts at investigating were not supported by his superiors to the point unsuccessfully they brought him up on charges under the Police Act. Some folks consider Dunlop to be a whistle blower. I’m not sure that’s the right description but his story isn’t a happy one.

4.      Re: #3 — I can be totally honest because I’m retired.

Perry Dunlop is completely disgusted with the Canadian justice system and his treatment as a police officer while trying to do his job. I know that feeling well and it’s why, to this very day, I continue to refuse to visit my old detachment (I haven’t been in for so much as a coffee since the day I left).

Not that I don’t like many of the officers. I do BUT I hate the environment and what it represents to me. No need to subject myself to that again.

No doubt Perry feels exactly the same way and truth be known, so do many working officers this very day. They can’t leave fast enough.

5.      It would be a great thing IF every “stabbed in the back officer” could persuade Dunlop who did a real service toward justice for children affected, to show up at this court room. What a statement it would make if hundreds could show up in support. I applaud this story. Dunlop’s a real Canadian and human being. However unpopular that may have been at the time and may still be. Until such time under a Conservative gov’t the tide turns and people can perform their jobs, even off-duty if they choose. I applaud Dunlop as few can be applauded.

6.      Perry knows what I do. No matter what he says the media will rip him to shreds. Why would he bother?

He tried and he wasn’t supported when it mattered.

7.      This is the time Jack he can get it out there straight, telling the media to get it right. What does it cost him personally to show up for this one?

btw, part of your present is taking hours to prepare. Will be delayed. Haven’t forgotten.

8.      He does far more good by demonstrating attitude than he ever could in court. It’s called FIDO and the motoring public needs to wake up.

9.      I am aware of this story. The PC MPP I worked for between 1995 and 1999 was friends with the PC MPP from Cornwall — whose name escapes me — but I recall that he really tried to do something about this situation.

This is the first I have heard of the whole matter for some years. But, from what little I do remember, the Cornwall MPP supported Dunlop but had trouble being believed — even by colleagues at QP.

But, I can understand what Jack is saying. The criticism and disbelief has been going on for a long time and he simply doesn’t need the hassles. It’s highly unlikely the result would be as Anna wishes it would be.
