Timeline: The Jacques Leduc trial

June 15, 1998: Former Cornwall cop Perry Dunlop has a phone conversation with the mother of C-16, a young man accusing Cornwall lawyer Jacques Leduc of sexual assault.

 

Dec. 6, 1999: Leduc is charged with sexually abusing three teenage boys, including C-16.

 

April 7, 2000: In a sworn statement, Dunlop discloses the phone call with C-16's mother.

 

July 4: Hallett sends a memo to Project Truth which says she has Dunlop's statement and plans to review it.

 

Jan. 22, 2001: Leduc’s trial gets under way.

 

Feb. 7: C-16's mother testifies about her call with Dunlop.

 

Feb. 14-15: Leduc’s lawyers argue Project Truth withheld evidence of the call.

 

Feb. 20: Hall meets with Leduc's defence team and says Hallett had a copy of Dunlop's statement. Two Project Truth officers visit Hallett's hotel room to get a copy of the memo and -without telling her what they are doing with it -turn it over to Leduc's lawyers.

 

Feb. 22: Hall takes the stand.

 

March 1: The charges against Leduc are thrown out. Judge James Chadwick rules Hallett withheld documents and violated Leduc's right to a fair trial.

 

May 16: After a request from the Attorney General's office, York Regional Police launch an investigation into Hallett's actions during the Leduc trial.

 

Summer 2001:Police conclude Hallett did not willfully obstruct justice. -Trevor Pritchard

 so what is the point you let this person off without a trial and he is free to run loose today and how many more young people has he molested. Way to go Cornwall justice.
