Cornwall Public Inquiry

OPP Lawyer Suggests Former MPP May Have Undermined Police Work

Cornwall News AM 1220

January 17, 2008 — The O-P-P is suggesting some would think former M-P-P Garry Guzzo made it difficult for the police to do its job. That opinion came at the Cornwall Public Inquiry yesterday while Guzzo was on the stand. O-P-P lawyer Suzanne Costom says some may have the point of view that Guzzo was contributing to the rumours and innuendo because he was repeating information that may not have been right. She suggested the remarks may have affected police work. Guzzo did admit some of the information he was given was false.

Heated Exchange At Inquiry

Cornwall News AM 1220January 16, 2008 — There was a rather heated exchange at the Cornwall Public Inquiry today when former MPP Garry Guzzo was accused of getting his facts wrong while pursuing a public inquiry. Guzzo was questioned by Mike Neville - Father Charles Macdonald's lawyer. Neville suggested Guzzo got some of his information backwards when he petitioned the Premier and other politicians for a public inquiry. Guzzo admits he may have made mistakes but he says no one bothered to tell him. Neville said the politicians probably threw Guzzo's correspondence in the garbage. The commissioner had to step in. The inquiry continues.
