Picton man charged with sex offences during time as priest in Cayuga

CAYUGA, Ont. (Sept. 29, 2008) — A 68-year-old former priest from Picton, Ont., has been charged with sex-related offences dating back 30 years.

Police say Donald Grecco has been charged with gross indecency and indecent assault for alleged offences against a boy.

The allegations date back to 1978 and 1979, when Grecco was the priest of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Cayuga, Ont.

Grecco was arrested on Sept. 11 following a lengthy investigation. He will appear in Cayuga court on Oct. 15.

A Picton man who worked as a priest at a Cayuga church has been charged with a sexual assault dating back 30 years.

The arrest was made on Sept. 11 following an investigation that spanned several weeks, said OPP Constable Paula Wright.

The alleged assault dates back to 1978-79 when the accused was the priest of St. Stephens Catholic Church in Cayuga.

Police report the male victim was a child at the time of the sexual assault but cannot reveal more because it is an ongoing investigation.

Donald Grecco, 68, has been charged with gross indecency and indecent assault on a male.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 15.
