CAS Worker Details Abuse Allegations Against Co-Worker

Cornwall News AM 1220

October 08, 2008 — How would you react if one of your co-workers was accused of sexually abusing children? A Children's Aid Society case worker faced that situation after allegations were leveled against a co-worker by a former foster child. Geraldine Fitzpatrick told the Cornwall Public Inquiry yesterday police told her not to talk to her boss because it could interfere with the police investigation. Fitzpatrick says she left the case up to police. (Hear audio clip below) Fitzpatrick says she heard the former foster child received a settlement from CAS. The case worker was never charged. Hearings continue this morning at 9:30.

[Transcript of audio clip:   “part of me was hoping that this stuff wasn’t true and so there was a part of me that wanted to dismiss it, but I knew that we couldn’t but I knew she had the notes. I didn’t take notes.”]
