Bishop issues apology

Durocher expresses 'deepest regret'

Cornwall Standard Freeholder

The current bishop of Alexandria- Cornwall made a highly anticipated apology to all victims of sexual abuse by diocesan priests to close his final day of testimony at the Cornwall Public Inquiry on Wednesday.

Bishop Paul-André Durocher read a prepared statement after diocesan lawyer David Sherriff-Scott asked the area leader of the Roman Catholic church a final question about how priests are screened before being accepted into the diocese.

Durocher prefaced the apology by saying it echoed words he wrote in a letter to all parishes in his first year as bishop.

The letter was read aloud at all the churches in Alexandria-Cornwall on the first Sunday of Lent.

"In (the letter) I expressed deep regret for any abuses that had been committed by priests of our diocese and the pain that had been caused by the mishandling of allegations in the past," he said.

MOVING FORWARD

"I committed myself to renewing this approach on these issues and to move forward in a positive, life-giving way.

"Today, I want to repeat this commitment, not only to the parishioners of the diocese, but to all the people of this area and echo for myself the apology that Bishop LaRocque gave last week," Durocher said.

"I want to express my deepest regret for all the pain experienced by people of this community because of some of the actions of some priests, or because of the response of our diocese to the hurt caused by those priests.

"As leader of the diocese, I apologize to all those who have been sexually abused, and I apologize to all those who were disappointed about the way the complaints were handled. I commit myself again to building a better future for those who were hurt or indirectly hurt and to all the people of our community."

What a JOKE!!! And if this wasn't a "set up" I don't know what else to call it. All the main media outlets are down in Toronto covering the Osgoode Hall appeal. The current Bishop of the Diosese of Cornwall- Alexandra issues a public apology to the victims and regret for the actions of some of his priests (so they did something obviously to get an apology) and yet where were the majority of the most prominent victims??  In Toronto at Osgoode Hall watching the Dunlop proceedings! Bishop Derocher - your words mean absolutely NOTHING!!!  Really good timing - I'd say!!! (sarcasm)

You are sooooo right RealityChecker!!! His appology means NOTHING!! The Bishop even said yesterday that he doesn't feel responsible for the actions of the priests so why is he even appologizing!!!! It all makes me sick to my stomach!

Apology...to who? For what? There has never been anything proven in a court of law!! LOL!!! How can anyone apologize when all the "pearheads" and their cowardly surrogates are saying "nothing" happened. Have there been any charges, arrests and prosecutions? How can there be an apology if nothing ever happened, as the "idiots" and "pearheads" at the Inquiry would want us all to swallow? Glaude, Engelmann, The Attorney Generals Office et al, you are a total disgrace. You have succeeded in pushing hard-working, law abiding, productive, positive members of society, further into the belief that the Ontario Justice System is CORRUPT!! Does there not have to be something to apologize for before we apologize? Has anything ever been acknowledged? Has anyone ever taken responsibility and admitted to "doing something" to cause, an apology, in this context. What victims, name them. Who are the accused?...name them. Who is the Bishop apologizing for?....name them!! What a gigantic joke!!! Only the ignorant autocrats and "wanna be" upper crusts, like "2sides" and "itinerant", who have helped to suppress growth and destroy Cornwall over decades, could believe-perpetuate such crap...complicit? The time is near.

"Bullies have trouble understanding the people who live by their convictions. Those who lack conscience or empathy are particularly unable to find any common ground with those who lives are dominated by care and concern for others, and driven by conscience. In bullies' eyes they simply make great targets, easy prey. Their honesty and desire to make the world a better place makes them vulnerable to those who goal is their own self-aggrandizement, advancement, or personal power."

Desperate people will take desperate measures to ensure the secret remains a secret.

“Dumb and Dumber”, or is it a veiled attempt to influence and shape public opinion?

“Itinerant” and “2sides”, the “one-two”, “one-two”. The “tag team”. One rarely “posts” without the other. They have been posting on this site since “the get go”. Rarely are their posts of any real substance; more often they ridicule the writings of others, but always, they have a direct, comment, challenging opposing viewpoints.

As if no one else is allowed to express an opposing opinion, without ridicule from these two. How typically Cornwall.

Readers, during my residency in Cornwall, Ontario, CANADA, I witnessed these characteristics as typical day to day behaviours, being displayed by many of the “senior” business people, religious people, justice system people including police, political people and other prominent citizens and their loyal, obedient servants.

These are typical abusive and controlling behaviours, displayed by the “powers that be” and their surrogates, to maintain “power and control”.

“Itinerant” and “2sides”; wouldn’t it be lovely if the readers could read your posts over the past several months, to really form an opinion on “who” you are? In fact, if they could only read all the posts we, who have been posting for some time, have contributed, including the messages to/from each other. I’m certain the readers, especially the new one’s would most likely conclude, you two are either idiots or complicit to this whole sordid affair and trying desperately to influence readers through your intimidation and veiled implications, while at the same time, trying to present yourselves as law abiding, open-minded people. Again, how typical of the Cornwall “selected”, blind followers.

I mean are you two, “Claud Hopper” and “Father Baloney?”

What are you two going to do when this inquiry wraps up and when Perry is “long gone”… out of the picture? You and Cornwall will be just the same as it always was and will be. And, the same old, same old “good old boys” will get the government dollars that will flow into the city, temporarily, trying to “put on a new face”. However, if “nothing changes, then, nothing changes”. Just more dollars for the controlling, autocratic and medieval thinking, prominent citizens of Cornwall and their blind followers….yes, looks good for you two.

HA! HA! HA! LOL!!! Desperation is creeping all over you, sweeping you and yours up, isn't it "2sides". Desperation, fear. You fools!! There we go again,...see readers, "2sides" implies he knows who I am and where I live. THAT IS EXACTLY how the "power-controllers" attempt to intimidate and instill fear in others. HA!! Come and get me or better still, I'll be in Cornwall, at the Weave Shed in October, come on down. My "ass" is so covered, your's is so revealed. The time is near. The people of Cornwall will be free!!  Wait and watch!!

HA!! Pathetic, simply pathetic! Courageous, informative, words for someone with thirty years in senior management. A real leader.

30 years in Senior management??? He obviously took the TWO MINUTE MANAGEMENT COURSE offered by Tuk U.

Lesson One

An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing. A small rabbit saw the eagle and asked him, "Can I also sit on my tail like you and do nothing?"

The eagle answered: "Sure, why not." So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle, and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Management Lessons:

To be sitting on your tail and doing nothing, you must be sitting very high up.

Lesson Two

A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree, sighed the turkey, but I haven't got the energy. "Well, why don't you nibble on some of my manure droppings?" replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients."

The turkey pecked at a lump of manure, found it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fourth night, he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon he was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.

Management Lesson:

Bull crap might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

Lesson Three

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground in a large field. While it was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on it.

As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, It began to realize how warm it was the dung was actually thawing him out. He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Management Lessons:

(1) Not everyone who craps on you is your enemy.

(2) Not everyone who gets you out of crap is your friend.

(3) And when you're in deep crap, it's best to keep your mouth shut.

This ends your two-minute management course. No PDH for this course.
