Commissioner Scolds Lawyer At Inquiry

Cornwall News AM 1220

September 03, 2008 — A Cornwall-area lawyer has received a slap on the wrist at the Public Inquiry. Commissioner Normand Glaude cautioned Frank Horn about talking to witnesses outside the court room if they are still under oath. The warning surfaced after Glaude learned Horn spoke with local Bishop Paul Andre Durocher before hearings began this morning. (Hear audio clip below) Horn acts for the Coalition For Action on Child Abuse. Durocher's testimony is expected to wrap up later this afternoon.

[Transcript of audio clip:

THE COMMISSIONER:  do you not realize that you’re not supposed to talk to the witness while he’s still being examined?

MR. HORN: Oh. T

HE COMMISSIONER: No, no, but ---

MR. HORN: I understand that.

THE COMMISSIONER: Yeah, but ---

MR. HORN: I ---

THE COMMISSIONER: --- why did you do that? You are not to talk to witnesses until they’re finished. So, okay, we’ll call that an admonishment. Don’t do it again.]
