Cornwall Public Inquiry

Perry Dunlop

Leave the Dunlops alone

Cornwall Standard Freeholder

October 2007

It appears we have had a kill the messenger mentality here in Cornwall. With regards to the Perry and Helen Dunlop and family saga, these people should be lauded as heroes, not castigated and thrown to the wolves.

There has to be a blow the whistle reimbursement for Perry. Whatever this fine man did that would seem misplaced I believe he felt he had no choice. There was no support, no trust, as it was his own administration and other community leaders that he was up against.

Death threats, job shunning, job loss, legal challenges all stood in the way of the real truth. There definitely was horrendous abuse in our own community that was thwarted by those in power to do something about it. I believe evidence of such crimes was purposely buried, delayed and even some destroyed intentionally to evade litigation. Whether or not such was the case, this community believes it.

Ignorance, intolerance, injustice and blindness due to protectionism of friends and guarding of this community hierarchy, be it religious, judicial, business or the general population I can imagine much was said like "if they only knew" or "if the truth was found out this town would be in big trouble."

Well, the truth is being found out and the blame would be going in the wrong direction if Perry Dunlop is required to pay even a higher price than he already has. He spoke his piece already in his 100-plus page presentation from 2000. Now the wolves are out to tear it apart piece by piece, limb by limb.

Perry, they ought to make a movie out of this with you and your family as the lead protagonists. If you go to jail for any reason, stemming from this inquiry, there will be a lot of hell to pay.
