Cornwall Public Inquiry

Dunlop Dealt With Allegation In The Wrong Way-Derochie

Cornwall News AM 1220

February 29, 2008 — There's a big difference from reporting an allegation to the Children's Aid Society and handing over a physical statement. That comes from Cornwall police officer Garry Derochie at the Cornwall Public Inquiry. He's the man who headed up the internal review in the early 90s on how a sex abuse complaint got in the hands of the Children's Aid Society. As you may recall, former city police officer Perry Dunlop was the one who provided the C-A-S with a physical statement from an alleged victim. Derochie, who supervised Dunlop at one time, tells Lead Commission Counsel, Dunlop went it about it the long way. But---Derochie says Dunlop had good intentions. Derochie is scheduled to continue his testimony Monday.
