Sex assault sentence Oct. 22

Cornwall Standard Freeholder

01 September 2009

A Cornwall man guilty of sexual assaults against four army cadets will now be sentenced on Oct. 22.  Danny Davis, 55, was charged with assaulting five cadets, but found guilty in four cases.

He pled guilty to four of the charges.

Sentencing had previously been delayed because the judge needed to see a pre-sentence report and an assessment by the Royal Ottawa Hospital.

The incidents reportedly occurred in the equipment room of the Cornwall Armouries and the Ipperwash Military Base in the 1970s and 1980s.

According to police, Davis was responsible for distributing and issuing uniforms to army cadet corps members at the Cornwall Armouries.
