Hon. Ed Lumley Roast
 
It was a political who’s who in Cornwall as one of the City’s most famous sons was roasted or, as  the Hon. Ed Lumley put it “...Roasted I think I’ve been burned at the stake!!” However, when the affair was done and all of the barbs tossed, more than $41,000 was raised for the Children’s Treatment Centre.

Hugh Riopelle gets a response from Ed Lumley and wife Pat during the roast. Riopelle, former Director of Public Affairs for Air Canada, is regarded as one of the country's most talented, and funniest, master of ceremonies. He donated his services for the roast.
 
 
 
 
William Fox, senior Vice-President, public affairs, CN, and former Press Secretary to Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, had an opportunity to 'roast' Ed Lumley. 
 
 
Former Newfoundland Premier, Brian Tobin was among the 'roasters' for the evening.

One of the country's most distinguished parlimentarians, the Rt. Hon. Herb Gray, former Deputy Prime Minister, seizes the opportunity to respond to Brian Tobin's introduction of the "comeback kid".

What's up with Mike? He's telling the audience about a recent nightmare. He became a tax-and-spend Liberal. There's no question Ed Lumley enjoyed the joke.
 
 
Paul Martin former Prime Minister,of Canada recalls the days when he and Ed Lumley were high-school students in Windsor and working summers for the local Coca-Cola bottler. Ed and Pat both enjoyed the tale.
 
 
Ron Joyce, a founder of the Tim Horton's chain, gets a big thank-you from his old pal Ed Lumley after presenting a personal cheque for $5,000.00 to dinner chairman Sean Adams, in background, for the Treatment Centre.
