Father Charles MacDonald - Charlie

No Ban On Priest's Name

Cornwall News AM 1220

November 17, 2006 — Father Charles MacDonald's name will stay on the public record at the Cornwall Public Inquiry. Justice Normand Glaude made his ruling today. Father Charles MacDonald's name will not be put under a publication ban as requested by his lawyer. Some of the reasons Justice Glaude came to this decision include parts of MacDonald's affidavit he disagrees with. He also pointed out that, until now, there has been no request for such a ban. Glaude said the inquiry is not just about MacDonald or his presumption of innocence. Glaude says MacDonald remains presumed innocent and the inquiry will not challenge that since its not part of it's mandate.
