Lawyer Questions Inquiry Witness About Response To Alleged Pedophile Ring

AM 1220 – Local News

October 16, 2008 — A Cornwall Police lawyer is suggesting the Children's Aid Society thought Perry Dunlop was "blowing smoke" after Dunlop said there was a pedophile ring operating in the city. Police lawyer Peter Manderville is implying the Children's Aid Society did not "put much stock" in Dunlop's story. While on the stand at the Cornwall Public Inquiry, former CAS employee Bill Carriere admitted the agency did question Dunlop's allegation because he was not providing notes or names. (Hear audio clip below) Carriere says the lack of information meant the agency could not pursue the matter in 1994. Hearings continue this morning at 9:30.

MR. CARRIERE: I think it’s fair to say that we definitely had questions about that information and felt that if this was true why wasn’t it being provided.]
