Local News - Another month, another big inquiry-related bill for the city.

The city police services board rubber-stamped three more bills worth a total of $248,474 related to the police service's involvement at the Cornwall Public Inquiry.

The inquiry cost the city about $2 million last year and is expected to cost the same amount in 2007. The cost - mostly related to the police service's legal representation at the inquiry - is currently being funded out of the city's reserves.

On top of the legal costs, it's estimated the inquiry has cost city police the equivalent of at least $246,000 in staff time and resources.

The city is hoping to secure financial assistance from the province to offset the inquiry costs.
