Mr. John MacDonald,

610 Fraser Avenue,

Cornwall, Ontario,

K6H 5R1

Dear John:

As per your request during our conversation, the following is a synopsis of the reports submitted to our Police Service.

On August 15, 1995, Inspector Trew met with Father Kevin Maloney, who reported to us that he received a letter from you regarding the sexual assault by Father Charlie on your person. At that time, the case of Father Charlie was ongoing and Inspector Trew advised Father Maloney that a follow-up would be done on the information we received.

On August 19, 1995, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Constable Wilson attended the residence of Father Maloney, who had his lawyer Sean Adams present. He stated he received one call from you on his answering machine, and two from the other victim. Due to the investigation being done on Father Charlie by our Police Service, Father Maloney, on the advice of his lawyer, wished to have you and the other victim advised to stop calling him until the investigation was complete.

Constable Wilson attempted to contact you on August 19, 1995, but was unsuccessful. On August 21, Constable Bough spoke with you, as Inspector Trew had assigned him the follow-up on Father Maloney's information about the letter. In Constable Wilson's report, it stated that on the 21 August 1995, she contacted you regarding the incident and that you stated you would comply with Father Maloney's request and have no contact with him, so that issue was closed and no further action was taken.

2.

From our conversation, it was determined the date on the report was incorrect. I contacted Constable Wilson and confirmed that the date of August 21 was indeed incorrect and that the proper date according to her notes, was August 24, 1995.

There was also some confusion about a statement made of an "ongoing investigation" and you were given the impression that you were a part of that investigation. At no time were you part of an investigation with this Police Service. This was simply a situation where a request was made to our Police Service, to advise you to make no further calls to Father Maloney and that was the only investigation we conducted and it certainly wasn't ongoing from our perspective.

I apologize for the confusion in this matter and trust that this letter will clear up any misconceptions that might have resulted in you being provided inaccurate information during the course of this investigation.

Should any further assistance be required, please feel free to contact me at your convenience. Yours very truly,

RB:dg                                                                Constable J. R. Burnie
