Cornwall Public Inquiry

The Inquiry

Inquiry May Be Extended

AM 1220

January 21, 2009 — Could the Cornwall Public Inquiry go on even longer than it already has? That could be the case if some of the lawyers have their way. Some would like to push back the deadline for final submissions by one month and address the Commission in March instead of February. O.P.P. lawyer Neil Kozloff says more time is needed to make proper submissions.(Hear audio clip below) Commissioner Normand Glaude says the request is not unreasonable and he will make a recommendation to the Province for a 30 day extension. Testimony is still scheduled to finish by the end of January. The first witness took the stand three years ago.

[Transcript of audio clip:    “It is trite to say Mr. Commissioner that one of the luxuries of time is an opportunity to reflect.  In order to be able to properly represent the interests of our clients and to assist you with comprehensive and thoughtful submissions we ask you for more time.” ]
