Bryant Will Not Get Involved in Inquiry

Cornwall AM 1220 News

April 28, 2006 - Ontario Attorney General Michael Bryant was the guest speaker last night at the annual liberal Trillium dinner. Bryant tells AM 1220 News when it comes to the Project Truth Inquiry, he will not get involved. The province's attorney general says the Inquiry is going in the right direction. Meanwhile, federal liberal MP and Social Development Critic Carolyn Bennett joined the crowd at the Trillium dinner. She tells AM 1220 News she was surprised to learn of the high numbers of teenage mothers in this region according to statistics which were recently released at the Project Truth Inquiry. At that inquiry, we have heard that back in the late seventies there was no specific sexual assault training in the Ontario police service. Detective Wendy Leaver from the sex crimes unit of the Toronto Police Service testified yesterday. When the inquiry resumes Monday, justice Glaude will rule on whether the role the local diocese will play at the inquiry and whether or not alleged victims will be allowed to testify.
