From: Sylvia [XXXXX.XX] Sent: April 25, 2005 1:07 PM To: Michael Bryant Subject: Cornwall inquiry Dear Mr. Bryant, My e-mail of 19 April 2005 to you regarding the mandate for the Cornwall inquiry has not been acknowledged or answered. I have also attempted to get answers from Mr. Brownell's office. Mr. Brownell's L.A. has been very helpful in offering to assist me attain answers, but, to date, there is nothing. Finally, I attempted to get answers from Mr. Justice Glaude himself. In addition to the basic questions posed to you and Mr. Brownell, I asked Mr. Glaude if he is the Normand Glaude who was born 5 November 1954 in Sudbury to Aurele Glaude and Aline Emma Robineau? An e-mail sent to him remains unanswered. I am starting to feel that I am getting the run-around. Why am I having such difficulty attaining answers to simple questions? I will pose my questions again: (1) Will the word "historical" in the mandate prohibit Justice Glaude from inquiring into the non-historical sex abuse allegations in Cornwall? (2) Will the inquiry's presumably broad, but vague, mandate actually restrict Justice Glaude and ensure that he is incapable of pursuing evidence and testimony related to allegations of cover-up and a paedophile ring - because he is not specifically mandated to do so? (3) Does this mandate permit Justice Glaude to inquire into the role played by "the Church" in relation to allegations of sexual abuse. Finally, another important question. Since 19 April I have learned that there is a Normand Glaude who was born 5 November 1954 in Sudbury to Aurele Glaude and Aline Emma Robineau. He seems to be one and the same as Mr. Justice Normand Glaude. That Normand Glaude's family hails from the Cornwall area. That would obviously present serious problems. Therefore, my fourth question is: (4) Is Justice Glaude's D.O.B. is 5 November 1954? Trusting that you, as the Minister responsible for both the mandate and commissioner of this inquiry, will bring my quest to a speedy conclusion with a simple yes or no response to each question, I await your reply. Yours truly, Sylvia MacEachern
