Luc A. Bouchard

Bouchard, born & bred in Cornwall, Ontario, ordained for the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall, is now Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of St. Paul, Alberta

Born:

  1949

  

Place:  Cornwall, Ontario, Canada 

   

Mid to late 60s:  attended Cornwall Classical College (one year ahead of Jacques Leduc and one behind Denis Vaillancourt).

 

Early to mid 70s:  roomed with Father (now Monsignor) Denis Vaillancourt and two other priests (now deceased) in Ottawa while each pursued studies for the priesthood, Bouchard at the Dominican College and Vaillancourt at University of Saint Paul.

 

1976: ordained by Bishop Larocque for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall 

 

       After ordination served three years at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church (the Co-Cathedral) in Cornwall.

 

1978 - (?) 1980 or 1981: assisted Father Gilles Deslaurier running of  "R Cube" weekend retreats for young people at the Sacred Heart Juniorate in Summerstown.   (He was replaced by Father Denis Vaillancourt  when he, Bouchard, left to pursue further studies.) 

       

1980:  listed as Co-ordinator of the diocesan Liturgical Commission which comprised of Father Kevin Maloney (English chairman), Father Gilles Deslauriers (French chairman), and Sister Mary McAlear sscj (Music).

  

Early 80s:  left diocese to study Scripture in Rome and Jerusalem

 

1983: returned to Canada

  

Taught for the Sulpicians at the Grand Seminary in Montreal. 

 

1985-86: Nativity, Cornwall (pastor, Gilles Deslaurier)

 

1986-1987: Pastor at Nativity

 

1990-1994: part of the formation team with the Sulpicians at St. Joseph Seminary, Edmonton, Alberta.

  

1994-1999: Pastor at Sacred Heart (Sacre-Coeur) in Alexandria, Ontario

2000-2001: Rector at Saint Joseph Seminary, Edmonton, Alberta

September 2001: consecrated bishop and installed as Bishop of St. Paul Diocese, Alberta (neighbouring the Archdiocese of Edmonton)

  • Had and possibly still has a cottage on the Saint Lawrence neighbouring Monsignor Denis Vaillancourt's
